Honor Guard and pipes for Officer Brad Moody The One Hundred Club of Contra Costa County was formed in 1984 by a group of concerned citizens who care about the welfare of families of peace officers and firefighters killed as a result of and while in the line of duty in Contra Costa County. Upon our formation, we became the sixty-second club formed in the United States. Update: September 8, 2008 The One Hundred Club is deeply saddened by the recent loss of one our community’s finest. Sergeant Paul Starzyk, from Martinez Police was needlessly killed during an extremely violent domestic violence call. He is survived by his wife Shannon, who is a deputy sheriff, and three small children. Paul, known to be funny, well liked by everyone, and respected for his knowledge in police tactics, was a “cop’s cop” who did not hesitate to put his own life in harms way to save members of our community. A family man, who was committed to trying to make the world a better place, who even volunteered at a local soup kitchen, gave the ultimate sacrifice on Saturday, September 6, 2008. A memorial service took place on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Concord Pavilion. There has been a memorial fund set up by the Martinez Police Officer’s Association to benefit the family. Please send donations to CCFCU (Contra Costa Federal Credit Union) Acct # 57950, 1111 Pine Street, Martinez, CA 94553, or send donations to the Martinez Police Officer’s Association at P.O. Box 447, Martinez, CA, 94553, attention Brian Dodd. |
